Partner spotlight: Clay
Clay is an AI-native platform for prospecting and data enrichment. GTM teams use it to build lead lists, enrich them from dozens of data sources at once, and personalize outreach off that data — the “data foundation” underneath a modern outbound motion. OutboundSync integrates specifically with Clay Sequencer — Clay’s native outbound campaign engine — as a live, one-way integration.
Who’s behind Clay
Clay was founded in 2017 by Kareem Amin and Nicolae Rusan in New York City, where the company is still based (its office sits in Chelsea). Kareem Amin serves as CEO. Varun Anand joined later — as an advisor first, then as a co-founder and Head of Operations in 2021. The company describes its mission plainly: make creative tools that help people grow their businesses by giving teams the best possible data foundation to reach their best-fit customers.
Clay is often called an “eight-year overnight success” — it grew from $1M to $100M in ARR in about two years, but spent the six years before that finding the right product to build. That long runway shaped a tool built for depth rather than shortcuts.
What Clay Sequencer does
Clay Sequencer is Clay’s native campaign engine, built for growth marketing and demand gen teams. It turns leads into pipeline with highly personalized outbound — unifying always-updated data, intent signals, and AI-written copy so each campaign reaches the right person, at the right time, with the right message.
Because Sequencer runs on top of Clay’s data, the data and the sending live in one place. That means a simpler stack and cleaner attribution than bolting a separate sender onto an enrichment tool — the pitch is quality over quantity, not blast volume. It backs that with strong deliverability: built-in warming, alias management, and domain rotation, plus flexible reply flows that route responses to Slack or the inbox.
Clay Sequencer is the specific part of Clay that OutboundSync integrates with — we connect to Sequencer, not to Clay’s broader platform.
How Clay structures your data
Clay is built around tables. Each row is a lead, each column an enriched attribute, and Sequencer runs campaigns straight off that data — so every send, open, reply, and bounce is an event tied back to a specific row. That send-and-reply activity is exactly what OutboundSync receives. We take it and write it into Salesforce or HubSpot as emails and timeline events on the matched person and company, so each touch lands on the record your team already works from — ready for reply routing and revenue attribution.
Clay’s wider platform does more than send. It enriches those tables from many data providers, uses AI to research accounts and draft copy, and automates the work of building and refreshing lists — and its own dashboards report on how campaigns perform. OutboundSync doesn’t replace any of that. It makes the outbound half visible in your CRM, in near-real time, alongside the rest of your pipeline.
How it works with OutboundSync
OutboundSync connects to Clay Sequencer as a live, one-way integration. Run your Sequencer campaigns as usual, and the send and reply activity flows onto the matched Salesforce or HubSpot records automatically, without any manual logging.
