HubSpot Update Only is now available
OutboundSync now supports Update Only for HubSpot webhook receivers.
It gives you a cleaner way to sync outbound activity to the contacts already in HubSpot — without turning every unmatched prospect into a new record.
When Update Only is enabled for a HubSpot webhook receiver:
- OutboundSync searches HubSpot for a matching contact, as it always does
- If the contact exists, OutboundSync updates it and logs the activity
- If no contact matches, OutboundSync skips creation instead of adding a new one
Why this matters
Many outbound teams use HubSpot as the source of truth for qualified contacts, active pipeline, customer data, and reporting. In that setup, creating every unmatched prospect can add noise to lists, workflows, attribution, and lifecycle reporting.
Update Only keeps that data clean. You keep syncing the activity you care about on contacts you already track, and unmatched prospects stay out of HubSpot until they’re qualified.
Where to find it
Open your HubSpot webhook receiver settings and look for Contact handling: Update Only.

Salesfinity has its own dedicated update-only controls, so the general HubSpot toggle doesn’t appear there. For every other HubSpot webhook receiver, turn it on whenever you want to update without creating.
Available now
Update Only is live in every OutboundSync account.
